EXPO CHICAGO is an international contemporary and modern art fair that takes place annually in April at Navy Pier's Festival Hall in Chicago, Illinois. The event serves as a platform for leading contemporary and modern art galleries to showcase their works, complemented by a comprehensive program that includes talks, on-site installations, and public art initiatives. It is open to both the public and professionals, fostering engagement within the art community.
Relaunched in 2012 by Tony Karman, EXPO CHICAGO aimed to re-establish the city as a significant destination for art fairs, building on the legacy of its predecessor, Art Chicago, which began in May 1980. Art Chicago initially hosted 80 dealers and 10,000 visitors, growing to over 200 exhibitors by 2000 before its cancellation after 2011. The current fair operates under the Frieze Art Fair umbrella, following its acquisition in July 2023, with Kate Sierzputowski becoming director in November 2025. The 2020 edition was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
