3rd Yangon International Motor Show Opens in Myanmar
The 3rd Yangon International Motor Show, organized by the Myanmar Automobile Association, opened at the Yangon Convention Center on March 20 and ran for three days until March 22. Myanmar's Deputy Minister of Commerce stated that the government has designated electric vehicle development as a priority investment area, targeting 100% EV share of registered vehicles by 2050; since 2022, Myanmar has permitted imports of 46 EV brands totaling 16,500 units. At the opening ceremony, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers and the Myanmar Automobile Association signed a memorandum of understanding. Major Chinese automakers including Hongqi, Geely, BYD, FAW, BAIC, Chery, GAC and Dongfeng showcased their latest models.
