2026 Australia-China Economic, Trade and Investment Expo and China Commodity Fair Australia open in Melbourne

China News Service reported that the 2026 Australia-China Economic, Trade and Investment Expo (ACETIE) and China Commodity Fair Australia (CCFA) opened in Melbourne, Australia, on September 10 for a three-day run, with more than 300 Chinese and Australian companies and institutions exhibiting innovations in new energy, advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence and other fields, as well as quality consumer goods. ACETIE, launched in 2018, is co-hosted by the China Chamber of Commerce in Australia and the Australia China Business Council; CCFA, hosted by the Trade Development Bureau (TDB) of China's Ministry of Commerce, was in its third edition. TDB director Liu Dianxun said the two shows were being held concurrently for the first time and that the pairing both helps quality Australian goods enter the Chinese market and helps Chinese brands expand into the Australian market. Andrew Robb, chair of the ACETIE Organizing Committee and former Australian Minister for Trade and Investment, told China News Service that China has transformed from the "world's factory" into a global leader in high technology and innovation, that the two economies are highly complementary, and that Australia should actively bring in advanced Chinese technology and combine it with its own strengths in agriculture, energy, education, healthcare, tourism and other areas. Gao Feng, minister-counsellor for economic and commercial affairs at the Chinese Embassy in Australia, said he looked forward to the two countries' business communities strengthening cooperation in technology, capital, talent and markets.
