Asime Boosts the Security and Defense Industry at the Eurosatory Fair
Secdefense-Asime, the initiative of the Association of Metal Industries and Associated Technologies of Galicia for the security and defense sector, is present at Eurosatory 2026, the field's leading international fair held in Paris, which gathers the main industrial, technological and institutional players in this value chain. The participation aims to strengthen the positioning of the Galician security and defense ecosystem, accompanying member companies such as Urovesa and Centum, which exhibit with stands, and Ghenova, attending as a professional visitor. The presence takes place within the Spain Pavilion coordinated by TEDAE, the Spanish association of defense, security, aeronautics and space technology companies, with which Asime has collaborated for years through a partnership agreement. Within Asime, more than 50 member companies work directly for this industry and another 150 have productive capacity within this value chain, currently generating more than 3,500 jobs. Asime's secretary general, Enrique Mallón, highlighted that Eurosatory represents a valuable opportunity to position Galicia in a strategic industry and explained that the goal is to involve 150 companies over the next 10 years, which could generate 5,000 new jobs in Galicia, with driving companies such as Navantia and Urovesa energizing the value chain. The association stresses that practically all security and defense activities fall within the metal sector, from land vehicles and frigates to drones and onboard systems, and that the current geopolitical context of historic growth in defense investment opens an unprecedented opportunity for Galician industry.
