ASIME and Xunta de Galicia Launch New Observatory for Metal Construction and Structures Industry

ASIME, the Association of Metal Industries and Associated Technologies of Galicia, launched its new Observatory for Construction, Metal Structures and Enclosures on February 4, 2026 at its Vigo headquarters, alongside the Xunta de Galicia. The Observatory covers a sector of more than 270 companies generating over 580 million euros in revenue and 16,600 direct jobs in Galicia. Operating within the ASIME IMPULSA project and supported by the Galician Institute for Economic Promotion (IGAPE), it serves as a collaboration space between industry and public administration, offering technical analysis, regulatory monitoring and technology surveillance. It will also coordinate the METALCONS congress, a reference event for the sector. Industry demands presented to the Xunta include regulatory simplification, technical support on decarbonization (carbon footprint, life-cycle analysis, certifications), advancement in industrialization and digitalization, more industrial land, and solutions to the shortage of qualified workers. Over 90% of Galician metal sector companies are internationalized, with production capacity utilization above 90%.
