ASIME and CAG Hold PECAL Defense Certification Session in Vigo
SECDEFENSE-Asime and the Galician Aerospace Consortium (CAG) organized a half-day session in Vigo attended by around 100 companies, in person and online, on how to obtain PECAL certifications for entering the security and defense supply chain. PECAL is the NATO quality assurance standard framework applied to armament and military material contracts in the aeronautics, space, and defense sectors, covering design, production, and software management systems. Around 30 Galician companies currently operate in defense, generating 3,500 jobs; the goal is to expand to 150 companies within 10 years, creating up to 5,000 new jobs in Galicia. The Xunta de Galicia presented the IN519G grant scheme, which funds up to 80% of eligible investment with a maximum of 75,000 euros per beneficiary and an application deadline of May 13. Certifying body EQA outlined the certification requirements and applicable standards. Industrias Ferri and Navantia (Ferrol shipyard) shared their success cases as already certified companies.
