Asime Presents NEXOS Projects Selected by the Galician Innovation Agency

Asime, the Association of Metal Industries and Associated Technologies of Galicia, hosted at its Vigo headquarters the presentation of five innovative projects developed under the NEXOS program of the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN) and co-financed with European Union structural funds: OHT-Optinav Hybrid Twin, TRANET, BIOLIN, ACUIVAC and CUBia. The initiatives address strategic challenges for Galician industry in areas such as energy, digitalization, sustainability, circular economy, forest management, aquaculture and the maritime sector. TRANET aims to demonstrate the viability of a system for recovering, storing and transporting industrial waste heat using molten salts and an Organic Rankine Cycle; OHT-Optinav Hybrid Twin develops a real-time naval efficiency solution with a digital twin oriented toward the decarbonization of the maritime sector; BIOLIN applies artificial intelligence and monitoring technologies to vegetation management in corridors of critical infrastructure such as roads, railways and power lines, valorizing the extracted biomass into products such as biochar; ACUIVAC researches an intelligent robotized system for the automated vaccination of turbot, a strategic species for Galician aquaculture; and CUBia develops a smart timber volume estimation system using LiDAR sensors, artificial intelligence and experimental quantum computing. The event featured Juan Carlos Porrúa, director of GAIN's Grant Management Department, who highlighted the program's collaborative nature, its priority for SMEs and its role in transferring knowledge from research centers to companies.
