Global Exhibitions Day 2026 (GED)
The Spanish Trade Fairs Association (AFE) celebrates Global Exhibitions Day (GED) on June 3, an initiative promoted by UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, held on the first Wednesday of June. The aim is to highlight the economic, social and business impact that trade fairs generate both globally and locally, with AFE and its members organizing various actions, communication campaigns and professional gatherings. 'Exhibitions generate opportunities' is the motto of this eleventh edition, focused on showing how these events contribute positively to people — fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange and professional development —, the planet — promoting sustainability — and the economy — driving new markets, innovation and commercial investment. AFE, founded in 1964, currently has 55 members representing approximately 90% of Spain's commercial trade fair activity. Together, its members organize more than 400 trade fairs annually, generating an economic impact of 13.6 billion euros, contributing 6.9 billion to national GDP, reaching a combined turnover of 880 million euros and sustaining more than 124,400 direct and indirect jobs. Among its members, IFEPA-Trade Fair and Exhibition Center of the Region of Murcia has a track record of more than 40 years and contributes an estimated 0.15% to regional GDP. Born in October 1984, the Murcian venue has welcomed more than 4 million visitors and 20,000 companies across the more than 500 fairs and events held at its facilities.
