Egurtek Will Turn BEC into an International Showcase for Timber Architecture and Construction

Bilbao Exhibition Centre will once again become the meeting point for timber architecture and construction this autumn with the eleventh edition of Egurtek, on October 28-29. The international forum will gather professionals, companies and specialists to analyze the rise of wood as a strategic material for more sustainable and innovative building. With a markedly international profile, the congress will address the great challenges of contemporary architecture, from the domestic and territorial scale to the most technically complex projects, showing how timber is gaining prominence in response to the climate, urban and social challenges facing the sector. National and international speakers from Austria, France, Chile, Norway, Italy and China have already confirmed their participation, representing studios and companies notable for their commitment to sustainability, innovation and the structural use of wood. The program reserves a prominent place for two professionals linked to the Basque Country: Borja Gómez Martín, senior architect and project director at IDOM, an expert in the technical management of complex international works such as the award-winning Bodegas Beronia, and Andrea García Crespo, co-founder of BABELstudio and an emerging figure in Basque architecture trained with David Chipperfield. The exhibition area will feature companies from Italy, France, Germany and Romania as well as Spain. Baskegur's Technical Sessions, the Innovation Workshops, networking activities and the Egurtek Awards — with nearly 80 entries submitted — complete the event.
