Equina Galicia 2026 Now Underway with More Competitions, Higher Sporting Level and Nine Countries Represented

Equina Galicia, organized by the Association of Spanish Horse Breeders of Galicia (ACCEGA) with the collaboration of the Semana Verde Foundation, is now holding its twelfth edition at the Feira Internacional de Galicia ABANCA venue, increasing the number and level of its competitions. With free admission, it hosts until Sunday ten competitions with 200 horses from nine countries, a conference, a clinic and an equestrian show. The event opened with the 12th Spanish Pura Raza Española-ANCCE Championship of Galicia, the morpho-functional contest that is the event's central axis and holds the top three-star category for the fifth consecutive year, granted by ANCCE for its excellent evolution, organizational effort and infrastructure. Forty-one outstanding stud farms are taking part, from most Spanish regions and from eight other countries — Germany, Belgium, Chile, Costa Rica, the United States, France, Italy and Mexico — with close to eighty purebred Spanish horses competing, placing this event among the three Spanish championships with the highest participation in its category; the competition is a qualifier for the World Championship at SICAB in Seville from November 17 to 22. The two-star National Classical Dressage Competition also began on the first day due to the large number of dressage events this year, and in the afternoon the 3rd Working Equitation Trial gets underway, with some twenty pairs from six regions. The opening conference addressed how artificial intelligence is transforming the breeding, management, health and commercialization of the Spanish Horse. The weekend will add the ANCCE Cup, the Concello de Silleda Cup, a saddle fitting clinic and the Galician Carriage Driving Championship.
