Experts from Four Countries Will Analyze the Future of the Forestry Sector at the 2nd Iberian Silviculture Symposium at Galiforest Abanca

The Galiforest Abanca forestry monographic fair, to be held from July 2 to 4 on the woodland and facilities of the Sergude Agricultural Training and Experimentation Center (Boqueixón), very close to Santiago de Compostela, continues to advance the organization of its exhibition area and activities program. This eighth edition will feature the 2nd Iberian Silviculture Symposium (II SIS), which on July 2 and 3 will bring together professionals, researchers, companies, associations, forest owners, students, public administrations and policymakers around a common goal: to think about and build the sector's future through innovation and sustainable management. The first day will include five lectures, among them 'Levers for active and resilient silviculture' by Arantza Pérez of ASPAPEL, and a presentation on the potential of Eucalyptus and Corymbia hybrids for forest plantations in Spain by Teotônio Francisco de Assis of Assistech Brasil, along with talks from RR Agroflorestal Brasil on nutritional management, Ence Terra and Viveros Mañente. The second day will analyze the future of conifers in Galicia — including the Lourizán Agricultural Center's maritime pine program and nematode resistance work — and genetic innovation in eucalyptus through the Portuguese experience of Raíz and Altri Florestal, plus presentations from Arauco Chile on the GloNi hybrid and DNA-free genomic editing, and Ence Terra's genetic improvement program. Each day will close with a round table of the day's speakers. Attendance requires prior registration, which is already open.
