Feria de Valladolid to Improve Energy Efficiency with a New Lighting System

Feria de Valladolid will undertake the renovation of the lighting systems of its venue and Auditorium 1 next summer, an intervention that will reduce energy consumption by 59.60% according to the project prepared by Somacyl. The tender budget amounts to 574,555.69 euros (VAT included), covered by Feria de Valladolid with its own funds; eleven companies bid and the contract was awarded to Ferrovial Energía S.A.U. The work will replace metal halide projectors, industrial high-bay fixtures and fluorescent lighting in Halls 1 to 4 with LED luminaires, and will also renew the outdoor lighting. The venue's annual energy consumption stands at 687,927 kWh, of which 72% corresponds to lighting. In Auditorium 1 savings will approach 88%, going from 11,340 to 1,267 watts of installed power, and across the whole venue a reduction in CO2 emissions of more than 60 tonnes per year is expected. Coinciding with Global Exhibitions Day, Oxford Economics has for the first time analyzed the impact of 16 fairs held in Valladolid in 2024: 200 million euros of indirect impact, 2,194 jobs and a 110 million euro contribution to GDP, with 1,324 exhibitors and 194,630 visitors. The institution, which holds the vice-presidency of the Spanish Trade Fairs Association (AFE), is also implementing a new integrated management system as part of its digital transformation.
