Gipuzkoa's big canine event returns to Ficoba: 44th International and 51st-52nd National Dog Shows

Gipuzkoa's dog show returns to the Ficoba venue in Irun with its 44th international edition alongside the 51st and 52nd national editions, an established reference event running through the whole weekend. Some 1,400 dogs of 192 breeds will take part, roughly 50% of them from France, and the public will enjoy high-level competitions with entries from across Spain and other European countries. The show features a prestigious panel of international judges from the United Kingdom, Finland and France alongside renowned national judges; the presence of top Finnish specialists has also encouraged entries from that country, reinforcing the show's international character. After last year's success, the Guardia Civil's dogs return with new demonstrations across disciplines such as detection, obedience, rescue and protection — one of the most eagerly awaited attractions for adults and children alike. Winners will compete for honours including His Majesty the King's Trophy and original rosettes from English firm Birdbrook, the same ones awarded at the legendary Crufts. Admission costs 5 euros for adults and 3 euros for children under 10; under provincial regulations, non-participating dogs may not enter and no dogs may be sold on site. The programme includes canine demonstrations, a young handlers contest and the group finals leading to the Grand Final at 16:00.
