Horchata inspires the fourth edition of GastroDesign, Gastrónoma's gastronomic design space

Gastrónoma again reserves a space for creativity applied to the food sector with the fourth edition of GastroDesign, developed with Papila Studio as part of the fair's programme, running from 26 to 28 October at Feria Valencia. This edition focuses on the Carraixet market gardens and one of the Valencian region's most identity-defining products: the tiger nut and its horchata, with the essential collaboration of Turisme Carraixet, the body working since 2018 for the sustainable development of l'Horta Nord. Twelve design studios from the Valencian Community — Amigo Estudio, Carmina Ibáñez, Chavo Roldán, Estudio Menta, Granissat, Locandia, Milkman, Oda Concepto, Papila Studio, Samaruc, Verónica Coloma and Vibra Design — will create an exclusive collection of 75-centilitre glass bottles for horchata, each offering a different interpretation of this gastronomic icon, after learning about tiger nut cultivation and artisan horchata making first-hand with master horchatero Cristóbal Subíes of Horchatería Subíes. Glass decoration specialist Ibicrom will collaborate in manufacturing the bottles. The programme also includes a second proposal by Papila Studio: a tableware piece inspired by the letter 'C' of Carraixet, designed with porcelain artisan and sculptor Ángel Alfaro through 3D printing and craft production, conceived to frame fruit and vegetables from the market gardens and visually reinforce the story of local produce and its origin.
