The intensity of carriage driving will close Equina Galicia 2026 with an Open featuring several national champions

The Equina Galicia 2026 equestrian event, to be held from 10 to 12 July at the Feira Internacional de Galicia ABANCA venue under the organisation of the Galician Association of Spanish Horse Breeders (ACCEGA), will host on its final day the second of the four legs of the Galician Carriage Driving Championship. The competition will be an Open, combining federated and non-federated classes: it will count towards the regional championship in the Limonera class (a four-wheeled carriage drawn by one horse), the Tronco class (drawn by two horses) and the Ponies class, aimed at children, while the free, non-federated class will admit any type of horse and carriage. Among the ten or so drivers taking part, from across Galicia, are the 2023 Spanish Individual Limonera Champion — runner-up in 2024 and Andalusian champion in 2025 — and Galicia's most veteran driver. Each class will consist of two runs on the arena, with scores based on the average of both rounds. The event is supported by the Galician Carriage Driving Club, which has 47 members and promotes this little-known sport, the Galician Equestrian Federation and ACCEGA. The competition joins nine other contests at Equina Galicia 2026, headed by the 12th Spanish Purebred PRE-ANCCE Championship of Galicia, the 3rd Working Equitation Trial and seven Classical Dressage competitions, plus introductory riding sessions, a conference and a clinic.
