Spain's health minister opens ExpoÓptica 2026 and the OPTOM Congress
Spain's Minister of Health, Mónica García, inaugurated the 35th edition of the optics, optometry and audiology show organised by IFEMA MADRID from Thursday 9 to Saturday 11 April, together with the OPTOM Congress. According to the organisers, the show has grown 10% compared with its 2024 edition. Also speaking at the opening were Juan Carlos Martínez Moral, president of the Spanish General Council of Optician-Optometrist Colleges, and Arancha Priede, IFEMA MADRID's director general of Trade Fair and Congress Business, while the opening lecture, 'Now you see me… thanks to mathematics', was delivered by Clara Isabel Grima, professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Seville. The authorities then toured ExpoÓptica + Audio, which brings together 130 direct exhibitors leading the visual and hearing health sector, 29% of them international companies, and strengthens its focus on eyewear fashion with the launch of the new Espacio Glam. Sponsored by seQura Eyewear and accompanied by a parallel technical programme, the show positions itself over three professional days as the meeting point for the optical and audiology business and a showcase of the industry's innovation.
