Liber Invites to Barcelona 700 Key Buyers, Agents and Prescribers from 70 Countries

Through the reinforcement of its internationalization programs, Liber has invited more than 700 key players from the publishing world across 70 countries to take part in the fair's business meetings, to be held from September 29 to October 1 at Fira de Barcelona's Gran Via venue, with more than 4,000 meetings expected to be scheduled with exhibitors. The list, agreed by the Federation of Spanish Publishers' Guilds (FGEE) with Spain's Economic and Commercial Offices abroad, includes buyers, distributors, booksellers, prescribers, literary agents, librarians and international publishers. The international buyers program — funded by the Ministry of Culture, ICEX, the Generalitat de Catalunya and CEDRO — has invited 500 participants from 59 countries; the PICE priority prescribers program, promoted by Acción Cultural Española, features 50 specialists from 24 countries; the program for US librarians, developed with ICEX and the Spanish Economic and Commercial Office in Miami, gathers more than thirty professionals; and the Publishers and Literary Agents Program, the fastest growing, has sent 120 invitations to specialists from 46 countries, who will take part in the Rights Salon. Latin America accounts for most invitees and remains the main destination for Spanish book exports, which reached 381 million euros in 2024, up 1.16%, while rights sales grew from 66 million euros in 2014 to over 72.5 million in 2024. Children's and young adult literature leads exports, followed by adult literature. Liber, organized by Fira de Barcelona and promoted by the FGEE, will bring together 250 publishers and companies this year.
