Madrid Region and IFEMA MADRID Sign Agreement to Boost Furniture Sector Ahead of Intergift
The regional government of the Comunidad de Madrid, IFEMA MADRID, the Ayuntamiento de Arganda del Rey, and Asociacion Habitat Madrid have signed a collaboration protocol to launch the first Semana del Mueble de la Comunidad de Madrid — Madrid Furniture Week. The initiative is designed to promote and boost the furniture and specialist habitat commerce sector across the region. The signing was attended by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Employment of the Comunidad de Madrid, the Executive Vice-President of IFEMA MADRID, the Mayor of Arganda del Rey, and the President of Asociacion Habitat Madrid. The agreement was concluded in advance of Intergift, held February 4 to 7 at IFEMA MADRID, within whose framework the initiative will be promoted. The official presentation takes place on Wednesday February 4 at 12:30 at the Speakers Corner in Hall 9 of Intergift. The Madrid furniture sector encompasses approximately 750 retail establishments and generates around 15,000 direct and indirect jobs, with revenue exceeding 1.2 billion euros — representing 18 percent of the national total and approximately 1.3 percent of regional GDP.
