Malaysia's April 2026 Trade Surges to Record RM336.73 Billion, Led by E&E
Malaysia's trade in April 2026 grew 28.6% year-on-year — the fastest since September 2022 — reaching a record RM336.73 billion. Exports soared 36.9% to an all-time high of RM182.74 billion, extending the growth streak to 10 consecutive months, while imports rose 20.0% to RM153.99 billion, yielding a trade surplus of RM28.75 billion (72nd consecutive month). E&E products led growth, jumping 46.4% to RM88.16 billion (48.2% of total exports). ASEAN, China, the US, Taiwan and the EU all recorded double-digit export growth, with ASEAN, Taiwan and EU exports hitting new records. Q1 2026 GDP grew 5.4%, and the IMF raised Malaysia's 2026 GDP forecast to 4.7%.
