China Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka Drew Almost Two Million Visits and Won the BIE Gold Award for Self-Built Pavilions
Expo 2025 Osaka ran from 13 April to 13 October 2025. The China Pavilion took as its theme the building of a community of life for man and nature and a green future society, organised around three narrative chapters on harmony between people and nature, on green landscapes and on continuous renewal. The pavilion recorded almost two million visits over the six months, making it one of the most distinctive and popular at the site, and received more than 280 dignitaries and prominent figures from over 90 countries and regions. It won the Bureau International des Expositions gold award for exhibition design among large self-built pavilions, the body's highest such honour and a first for China at an overseas world expo. Thirty-one provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities plus the Macao Special Administrative Region staged consecutive activity weeks and theme days, the most China has organised at any overseas expo. Preparations for the China pavilion at the 2027 Belgrade specialised expo are already under way, and preparations for the 2030 Riyadh world expo are about to begin.
