China Was the Top Foreign Exhibitor Nation at German Trade Fairs in 2025, Ahead of Italy and the Netherlands

China supplied the largest share of foreign exhibitors at German trade fairs in 2025, at more than 18%, followed by Italy at around 11%, the Netherlands at 5%, Spain at 4.5% and the United States and Türkiye at 4.4% each. The ranking of visitor origins looks distinctly different: the Netherlands led with 7.3%, ahead of Austria on 7.1%, Italy on 6.8% and Switzerland on 6.4%, with China also in the top five on 4.5%. In other words, long-haul markets weigh more heavily among the exhibitors who travel to Germany, while Germany's neighbouring countries weigh more heavily among the trade visitors who come from abroad. These figures are internal shares of the foreign exhibitor and the foreign visitor populations respectively; they do not include German exhibiting companies or German visitors, and they are not shares of the total participation at German trade fairs. AUMA notes that the statistics contain deviations because some participants did not state their country of origin.
