China's Green Exhibition Venue Standard Takes Effect in January 2026 Alongside a National Green Assessment Framework

China continued to issue policy documents and industry standards in 2025 to support the green and digital transformation of exhibition venues. In June 2025 the State Administration for Market Regulation released GB/T 45840-2025, guidelines for assessing green venues operated by public institutions, providing a national green assessment framework covering exhibition venues for the first time and organised around five categories of indicators including energy conservation and use and resource conservation and use. In August 2025 the Ministry of Commerce issued the Green Exhibition Venue standard, SB/T 11255-2025, which takes effect in January 2026 and sets out requirements for green planning and energy-saving management at exhibition venues. On the digital side, the State Administration for Market Regulation published guidelines for online exhibition services on 30 May 2025, focusing on the emerging online exhibition format, setting out step-by-step guidance for the pre-show, live and post-show phases, and specifying the capability requirements that service providers must meet.
