China's Venues Go Green: National Exhibition and Convention Center in Tianjin Cuts About 10,000 Tonnes of CO2 a Year

China's exhibition venue market is accelerating its green and digital transformation. The National Exhibition and Convention Center in Tianjin uses more than a hundred low-carbon, energy-saving and environmental technologies, including prefabricated construction, ground-source heat pumps and photovoltaic solar power, cutting carbon dioxide emissions by about 10,000 tonnes a year. The 2025 Summer Davos forum was held at the venue and ran entirely on green electricity secured through green certificate trading, the first time the Summer Davos meeting has achieved full green power supply by purchasing green electricity certificates. In August 2025 the Anji International Convention and Exhibition Center in Zhejiang entered operation, having applied more than a hundred green and energy-saving technologies during construction, among them photovoltaic glass, ground-source heat pumps, rainwater recovery and energy consumption monitoring. On the digital side, the Shanghai New International Expo Center has built an internet-of-things data layer, created a one-to-one digital twin of the site and put a facilities operation and maintenance platform into service.
