EIC and IAEE partner to deliver the CEM: Sustainable Event Professional Certificate

The Events Industry Council and the International Association of Exhibitions and Events have partnered to deliver the CEM: Sustainable Event Professional Certificate (SEPC), combining EIC's work on standards, research and professional recognition with IAEE's expertise in exhibitions and face-to-face events. The certificate comprises 16 online, self-paced modules aimed at translating sustainability ambition into measurable action. The curriculum covers understanding and communicating the business value of sustainable events, including brand enhancement and cost efficiencies; improving the environmental performance of meetings and events; designing event elements that drive social impact; developing community service initiatives aligned with organisational goals; and applying international sustainable event standards, measurement tools and reporting methodologies. Participants also receive a digital workbook of guided exercises for building a sustainability roadmap tailored to their own events, so the material moves from theory to implementation. Both bodies presented the partnership as evidence that aligning industry organisations around shared priorities produces stronger education and clearer standards for the sector as a whole.
