EIC and JMIC open industry-wide review of Sustainable Event Standards with 200+ volunteer experts

The Events Industry Council and the Joint Meetings Industry Council announced the next phase of their targeted refinement of the EIC Sustainable Event Standards, moving the project from scoping into a structured, industry-wide review. The Javits Center is presenting strategic sponsor for this phase. More than 200 volunteer professionals from across regions and sectors are expected to contribute, working through cross-sector working groups that review and enhance specific areas of the standards. A central objective is greater alignment across a sustainability ecosystem that organisations increasingly find crowded with competing frameworks, standards and reporting requirements. The work is explicitly connected to two other initiatives: the Net Zero Carbon Events initiative coordinated by JMIC, and the Sustainable Event Goals, supporting guidance developed by a cross-sector working group convened by Destination Canada with support from PCMA, Convene 4 Climate, Kenes and EIC among others. EIC framed the aim as keeping the standards a practical, globally relevant framework that helps organisations move from intention to action.
