Foreign Exhibitors Made Up 66% of Participants at Germany's 158 International and National Trade Fairs in 2025

Germany's 158 international and national trade fairs attracted 99,190 exhibitors from abroad in 2025, two thirds — 66% — of all exhibitors in that segment and 1.5% more than at the respective previous editions. Visitors from abroad numbered 2.78 million, or 33% of the segment's total attendance, an increase of 2.9%. These shares apply only to those 158 events: they exclude the 134 regional shows and are not the same as the structure of all 304 fairs held during the year. AUMA argues that such a high international share has few parallels worldwide and reflects the pull of Germany's many sector-leading fairs. The association also warns that geopolitics, infrastructure and regulation are putting pressure on the internationality of German events, with flight cancellations and rising travel costs among the immediate effects, and calls on federal and state government to deliver digital visa processing, strong transport infrastructure and trade fair support programmes. Those assessments and demands are the association's own positions.
