GBTA Welcomes U.S. House Passage of Aviation Security and Travel Facilitation Bills

The Global Business Travel Association has welcomed passage by the U.S. House of Representatives of a bipartisan package of aviation security and travel facilitation bills, including the SAFEGUARDS Act of 2026 and the One Stop Pilot Program Extension Act. The association said the measures address problems its members raise with growing urgency: checkpoint congestion, staffing constraints and inefficiency in the international travel process. The SAFEGUARDS Act would restore the 9/11 passenger security fee to its intended purpose of funding aviation security, giving the Transportation Security Administration resources to meet operational demands; GBTA has long opposed the diversion of those fees. The One Stop Pilot Program Extension Act would let TSA expand and continue testing international agreements that remove duplicate screening for passengers arriving from airports meeting TSA-equivalent security standards. GBTA chief executive Suzanne Neufang said the bills modernise aviation security, reduce unnecessary delays and support a more seamless travel experience, and welcomed the bipartisan support behind the package. The association said it will continue working with the U.S. Senate to advance the measures into law and to promote international harmonisation of security standards.
