German Trade Fair Venues Plan Around One Billion Euros of Investment Through 2029, AUMA Survey Shows

In its annual publication Trends 2026/2027, AUMA cites its own survey of the sector: trade fair venues in Germany plan to invest around one billion euros by 2029. The share earmarked for energy efficiency and sustainable fairgrounds is described by the association as a high three-digit million euro amount. Willingness to invest is reported as stable to slightly rising, carried by construction and digitalisation projects, while headcount at the venue operators is expected to remain broadly unchanged. In its statement on the 2025 annual figures, AUMA put the same order of magnitude — around one billion euros for infrastructure modernisation — against a 2030 horizon, and added that new-build projects are also planned. The annual publication states the plan against a 2029 horizon, while the statement on the annual figures uses 2030. All of these amounts are planned or survey-based figures and do not represent investment that has already been completed.
