Global Electronic ATA Carnet System eATA Launches June 1 2026 Covering 30 Countries Including EU Norway Switzerland and UK

The global electronic ATA Carnet (eATA) system, jointly led by the World Customs Organization (WCO) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), officially launched on June 1, 2026. Thirty countries — including all EU member states, Norway, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom — are among the first to fully implement eATA clearance. The system aims to fully digitize the application and management of ATA Carnets, streamlining customs clearance for temporarily imported and exported goods. UK, Norwegian, and Swiss customs will still accept paper carnets during a one-year transition period. The ICC has also released the "ATA CARNET" app for carnet holders.
