Hongqiao Forum holds first organising meeting for ninth edition

The Hongqiao Forum secretariat and its research centre jointly held the first organising meeting for the 9th Hongqiao International Economic Forum in Beijing on 7 August 2026, as preparations moved into detailed implementation. The meeting followed up on the plenary session of the inter-ministerial joint conference for the 9th CIIE, assigned responsibility for each sub-forum to lead host organisations, and set requirements on refining forum plans and deliverables, inviting speakers and handling publicity. The secretariat reported on progress and next steps and issued a guide to organising sub-forum activities. Around 60 people attended, including representatives of UNICEF and the UN Industrial Development Organization, departmental officials from the Ministry of Commerce, the National Development and Reform Commission, the ministries of agriculture and rural affairs and of industry and information technology, SASAC, the market regulator, the National Energy Administration and the drug regulator, plus the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and forum member companies and partners.
