IBTM Africa Welcomes MICE Exhibitors to Cape Town as Buyer Interest Soars

RX has previewed IBTM Africa, the meetings, incentives, conferences and events show it runs alongside WTM Africa at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 13 to 15 April 2026. The organiser positions the show as a link between international buyers and African business events suppliers. Rather than release standalone figures, RX quantifies the MICE weight inside the wider WTM Africa audience: 40 percent of exhibitors carry strong MICE elements, more than a third of hosted buyers have direct MICE influence, and 99 percent of those buyers are senior decision-makers. Confirmed MICE buyers come from the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Kenya, United Arab Emirates, Italy, Tanzania, Egypt, India, Spain, Australia, Uganda, Turkey, the Netherlands and South Africa, while exhibitors span 17 countries and include hotel groups such as Southern Sun Hotel Interests, Tsogo Sun, Minor Hotels and City Lodge Hotels, plus specialist venues including Kievits Kroon. Co-located programming covers a Women in MICE breakfast and workshop, a China Ready workshop, a Sports Events and Tourism Exchange run with Nielsen Sports, and the Africa Tourism Investment Conference. Carol Weaving, Managing Director of RX Africa, said IBTM Africa connects global demand with the continent's growing business events sector.
