International Meetings Held Their Share in Italy in 2025 and Cluster in the Centre of the Country
Among the meetings and events held in Italy in 2025, 12.9% were international, slightly below the 13.4% of 2024 but clearly above the 9% of 2023, the 8.3% of 2022 and the 9.8% of 2019. They accounted for 14.7% of all participants, down from 18.3% in 2024 but still above the 12.9% recorded in 2019. Over the same period local events, whose participants come mainly from the region where the venue is located, made up 54.8% of events against 47.2% in 2024 and 39.7% of participants, while national events accounted for 32.3% of events against 39.4% in 2024 and 45.6% of participants. The regional differences are pronounced: in the Centre of Italy international events reached 22.9% of events and 22.7% of participants, far above the national average, whereas in the South and the Islands they represented only 5.4% and 6.5%. One point on scope: these shares come from the answers of 482 fully responding venues and are not grossed-up national estimates.
