Italy Hosted 365,789 Meetings and Events in 2025, on a Definition That Excludes Trade Fairs

Italy hosted 365,789 meetings and events in 2025, down 0.6% on 2024, with 28,627,455 participants (-2.2%), 509,973 event days (-2.6%) and 43,275,254 attendee days (-8.3%). Events averaged 78.3 participants and lasted 1.39 days on average, against 1.42 days in 2024, and the reference universe comprised 5,502 venues, 1.6% fewer than in the previous year. One point on scope deserves emphasis: the survey counts only meetings held in Italy that last at least four hours and have at least ten participants, whether fully in person or hybrid, and it explicitly excludes exhibitions and trade fairs, private celebrations such as weddings, and concerts or shows at venues whose main business is performance. These figures therefore cannot be compared directly with trade fair or exhibition statistics and do not include the exhibitions staged inside Italian fairgrounds. The four year-on-year percentages are reproduced exactly as published in the report, without any attempt to reconcile them with one another.
