JETRO Supports 14 Japanese Pet Food Companies at Taipei Pets Show 2026 to Capture Taiwan Market After Regulatory Easing

JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) supported 14 Japanese companies plus one trade association in exhibiting at the 2026 Taipei Pets Show, held July 3-6, 2026 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1, Floor 4, the largest pet trade fair in Taiwan. Taiwan recently relaxed import restrictions on beef-containing dry pet food, which had previously blocked Japanese producers from this market. The Taiwan pet market is projected to grow from USD 1.09 billion in 2025 to USD 1.56 billion by 2031, driven by pet humanization trends. Current Japanese pet food exports to Taiwan stand at approximately JPY 3 billion, primarily in treats and retort foods. JETRO aims to double exports by establishing dry pet food as a staple category, contributing to Japan overall agricultural food export target of JPY 5 trillion by 2030. Future expansion is also planned for Southeast Asia and the US market.
