Korea's 458 consumer shows drew more visitors but its 142 trade shows carried the buyers
Korea's 736 exhibitions in 2024 split into 142 trade shows, 136 mixed shows and 458 consumer shows, and the three types behave very differently. Consumer shows drew the most people, 4,919,812 visitors against 2,794,385 at mixed shows and 1,816,756 at trade shows. Buyers run the other way in density: trade shows recorded 1,108,263 buyer visits out of their 1,816,756 total, mixed shows 779,989 and consumer shows 506,066. Exhibitor counts follow the same logic. A trade show averaged 199 exhibitors, of which 44 were foreign, a mixed show 224 with 41 foreign, and a consumer show 123 with only 10 foreign. On net exhibition area, consumer shows took 1,087,074 square metres, trade shows 665,511 and mixed shows 619,219. For a foreign exhibitor, the trade and mixed categories are where the buyer density and the foreign exhibitor base sit. All three categories are reported on the same measures in the annual survey, so the split can be read directly.
