Malaysia Breaks Records with RM3.06 Trillion Trade Performance in 2025; MITI and MATRADE Set Strategies for 2026

Malaysia's total trade reached a historic RM3.06 trillion in 2025 (+6.3% YoY), surpassing the RM3 trillion threshold for the first time, with exports at RM1.61 trillion (+6.5%) and imports at RM1.45 trillion (+6.2%). The trade surplus stood at RM151.80 billion — the 28th consecutive year of positive trade balance since 1998. Manufacturing led growth with E&E products and machinery driving expansion; palm oil-based products grew 16.2%. Emerging market gains included Yemen, Algeria, Puerto Rico, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Uzbekistan. MIHAS 2025 generated RM6.05 billion in sales; MATRADE initiatives produced RM64.67 billion in export sales benefiting 19,000+ companies including 14,000 SMEs. 2026 targets: 4–4.5% economic growth, 18 major trade fairs, participation in Farnborough International Airshow and SEMICON West.
