Malaysia Surpasses RM3 Trillion Trade Milestone in 2025

Malaysia's total trade reached RM3.061 trillion in 2025 (+6.3% YoY), crossing the RM3 trillion threshold for the first time in history. Exports hit a record RM1.607 trillion (+6.5%) — the fifth consecutive year above RM1 trillion and surpassing the previous 2022 record of RM1.550 trillion. Imports reached RM1.455 trillion (+6.2%), with intermediate and capital goods comprising 64.2% of imports. The trade surplus was RM151.80 billion (+9.2%), maintaining a 28-year streak since 1998. Major export markets: ASEAN RM457.62B (+4.5%), US RM233.08B (+17.2%), Taiwan RM87.95B (+31.2%), EU RM129.17B (+11.5%). Palm oil and derivatives: RM124.86B (+9.2%). FTA partner trade surpassed RM2 trillion for the first time, accounting for 65.5% of total trade.
