Malaysia's January 2026 Trade Remained Robust, Marking a Strong Start to the New Year
Malaysia's January 2026 trade totaled RM272.37 billion (+12.6% YoY), with exports at RM146.87 billion (+19.6%) and imports at RM125.50 billion (+5.3%), extending the trade surplus to RM21.37 billion — the 69th consecutive monthly surplus since May 2020. Manufactured goods accounted for 86.7% of exports at RM127.36 billion (+22.3%), led by Electrical & Electronics at RM70.53 billion (+39.5%). Agriculture exports were RM8.88 billion (-2.7%) and mining RM8.76 billion (+2.7%). By total trade share: ASEAN 25.0% (RM67.97B, +9.3%), China 17.8% (RM48.53B, +17.1%), US 11.6% (RM31.63B, +11.1%), Taiwan 8.4% (RM22.82B, +11.6%), EU 7.5% (RM20.53B, +19.8%). FTA partners accounted for 65.7% of total trade at RM178.86 billion.
