Malaysia's Trade Hits Historic RM1.127 Trillion in Jan–Apr 2026

Malaysia's total trade surged 15.3% to RM1.127 trillion in the first four months of 2026 — the fastest the country has ever crossed the RM1 trillion mark. Exports rose 19.0% to RM609.31 billion, imports 11.1% to RM517.40 billion, and the trade surplus nearly doubled to RM91.92 billion (+99.1%). AI-enabling products accounted for 52.4% of total exports at RM319.05 billion (+42.9%), with E&E up 32.1%, pharmaceuticals 21.9%, and automotive 10.3%. Emerging markets drove diversification, with exports to DRC, Sudan, and Zimbabwe each surging over 200%.
