Malaysia's Trade Surplus Hits Historic High of RM132.77 Billion in January–May 2026
Malaysia's total trade from January to May 2026 expanded 18.3% YoY to RM1.455 trillion, with exports surging 24.3% to RM793.84 billion and trade surplus reaching a historic record of RM132.77 billion — nearly triple the RM46.93 billion in the same period last year. E&E exports led with +39.7% to RM382.89 billion (semiconductors +61.6%), while automotive/EV exports surged 115.8%. Malaysia rose to 15th in IMD World Competitiveness Ranking (from 23rd in 2025).
