Messe München Shanghai marks 25 years with record EUR 128 million sales
Messe München marked the 25th anniversary of its subsidiary Messe Muenchen Shanghai Co., Ltd., founded in 2001, describing it as the group most important international unit. The Chinese subsidiary posted record sales of EUR 128 million in 2024, its best financial year to date. It employs more than 170 people in Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen and organises more than 15 events from the group portfolio plus further cooperative events. Its shows include bauma China and electronica China; across its China events last year more than 12,000 exhibiting companies met over 1.6 million visitors. Messe München also holds a stake in the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. CEOs Reinhard Pfeiffer and Stefan Rummel said the shareholders took a bold and visionary step in founding the Shanghai unit, that China is now the group strongest foreign market, and that the local presence provides impetus for trade, networking and growth while reinforcing Munich position as a globally networked business and innovation location.
