Minneapolis Convention Center Completes Transformational 25 Million Dollar Meeting Room Renovation

The Minneapolis Convention Center has completed a 25 million US dollar renovation covering all 87 of its meeting rooms and more than 93,000 square feet of meeting space. The multi-year project wrapped up in July 2026. The work went well beyond finishes: electrical, data, fibre and audio infrastructure were upgraded throughout, new linear LED fixtures with theatrical-grade controls were installed, and the HVAC system was improved with linear diffusers. Interiors were reworked with wood accents and wood-grain finishes, and acoustic panels were wrapped in Carnegie Xorel fabric, which is entirely PVC-free. The centre also added food and beverage outlets operated by Kelber Catering, including Mill City Pizza Kitchen serving New Haven-style pizza, Mill City Market for grab-and-go salads and sandwiches, and mobile café concepts offering smoothies, açai bowls and customisable sodas. Executive Director Jeff Johnson said the renovations position the centre to better serve clients and their attendees for years to come. The venue budgets roughly 10 to 15 million dollars a year for capital improvements, so this project sits within a continuing reinvestment programme rather than being a one-off.
