Net Space Was 46% of Gross at UK Exhibitions in 2025, with a Median Gross Size of 5,400 Square Metres

The median gross exhibition size at UK exhibitions in 2025 was 5,400 square metres and the average 8,200 square metres including outdoor space, while the median net size was 2,300 square metres and the average 4,200. Net space therefore amounted to 46% of gross space. That ratio varied by type — 49% for trade exhibitions, 41% for consumer exhibitions and 54% for conferences — and by venue, at 44% for primary venues, 54% for secondary venues and 48% for other and outdoor venues; the calculation is based on the 785 exhibitions for which both gross and net figures were available. Size differs sharply by venue tier: primary venues had a median gross size of 8,200 square metres and an average of 13,400, against 3,700 and 5,100 at secondary venues and 2,000 and 5,200 at other and outdoor venues. By size band, 52% of exhibitions were under 5,000 square metres gross and 27% were 8,000 square metres or more, a share that rose to 51% at primary venues.
