Nino Gruettke appointed CEO of MMI Asia, Messe München Southeast Asia arm
Messe München appointed Nino Gruettke Chief Executive Officer of MMI Asia, its Southeast Asian subsidiary, effective 1 June 2026. He succeeds Michael Wilton, who is stepping down for personal reasons after joining the company in 2020; the timing is intended to ensure a seamless handover ahead of Singapore International Water Week. Gruettke brings more than 21 years in the international trade show and events industry. He joins from US media company Semafor, where he was Senior Vice President of International Events responsible for C-level convenings across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, and previously held senior roles at Informa, including Chief of Staff at Informa Markets. From 2018 to 2024 he was CEO Asia at B2B media group Tarsus, overseeing regional growth across China and Southeast Asia. A German national, he began his career at Messe Berlin. CEOs Stefan Rummel and Reinhard Pfeiffer cited his understanding of the Southeast Asian market and entrepreneurial record in scaling organisations.
