Shanghai sets 257 service tasks for ninth CIIE city support plan

At a press briefing on 27 July 2026, Shanghai deputy secretary-general Zhu Min, who heads the office of the municipal leading group for CIIE city services, said the city has drawn up an overall service and support plan for the 9th CIIE setting out 257 priority tasks. On entry facilitation, port visa services are being streamlined, foreign nationals at the Oriental Hub international business cooperation zone can obtain entry visas on the strength of a CIIE invitation letter, and invited overseas exhibitors and buyers from Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui can complete port visa formalities entirely online. The CIIE app is being upgraded with smart Q&A, multilingual translation and personalised in-venue route planning based on visitor sector and sourcing needs, alongside a mobility-as-a-service assistant covering routes, parking reservations and travel options around the venue. Catering gains a 2,000 sqm food court inside the venue. Medical cover is strengthened across six on-site stations linked to 37 designated hospitals for pre-hospital and in-hospital care, with online minority-language medical interpretation and a bilingual service guide. The venue network is upgraded to 10-gigabit coverage, and customs, tax, legal and market regulation advice desks will operate on site, with more Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese and Russian speaking volunteers.
