World Hydrogen Summit 2026 Convenes Global Leaders in Rotterdam as Industry Shifts from Ambition to Delivery

The World Hydrogen Summit and Exhibition 2026, organised by RX and the Sustainable Energy Council with the Dutch government, the Province of Zuid-Holland, the City of Rotterdam and the Port of Rotterdam, ran 19 to 21 May 2026 in Rotterdam and drew 10,000 attendees from 120 countries. The edition was themed around climate, energy and national security, and on unlocking hydrogen demand across hard-to-abate sectors including steel, shipping, refining, fertilisers, aviation and heavy-duty mobility. Two dedicated zones were introduced for the first time, covering carbon capture, utilisation and storage, and energy storage, extending the show beyond hydrogen itself. His Majesty King Willem-Alexander attended the opening day and witnessed the ceremonial handover of the first section of the Gasunie hydrogen pipeline. Ivo Bols, President for Europe and Africa at Air Products, said companies need to understand and make use of the fact that they are not alone in the sector. Event Director Chris Hugall said the momentum for doing deals at the summit is stronger than ever. Port of Rotterdam Chief Executive Boudewijn Siemons said the transition to carbon-neutral energy is the path towards a thriving, secure and sustainable future. The next edition takes place in Rotterdam in May 2027.
