Lucca Comics & Games

Lucca Comics & Games is a premier annual international festival dedicated to the vibrant worlds of comics, animation, games (including role-playing, board, and card games), video games, fantasy, and science fiction. This significant event draws a vast audience, including fans, artists, and industry professionals such as publishing houses, specialists, resellers, and comic artists. It also serves as a major gathering point for cosplayers, with past editions attracting 240,000 attendees in 2014.

The festival is uniquely integrated into the Lucca Urban Area, utilizing the city's historic center, narrow streets, and squares, both inside and outside the fortified walls. The exhibition area spans approximately 15,000 square meters, featuring numerous thematic pavilions. These include dedicated spaces for games, temporary shops for comics and games, exhibitions by international artists and illustrators, children's pavilions, Japan Town for Manga enthusiasts, and areas specifically for video games. Core exhibit sectors encompass a comprehensive Comics area and a Games area hosting exhibitors from the recreational industry, alongside authors, publishers, specialized stores, and associations.

Beyond the main exhibition, Lucca Comics & Games offers an extensive program of concurrent events. These include diverse exhibitions, thrilling cosplay contests, and competitive game tournaments. Attendees can participate in meetings with Italian and international comics authors, attend book presentations, and enjoy role-playing tournaments, cosplayer performances, and concerts. Special exhibitions dedicated to world-famous artists are hosted in the city's palazzos and museums. The event also features Lucca Junior, a dedicated area for children and schools, and presents awards for the best games, unpublished works, and handmade miniatures. The 2026 edition will celebrate its 60th anniversary with a poster by Claudio Castellini and will host notable guests such as Frank Miller, Go Nagai, Jonathan Hickman, Peach Momoko, Tillie Walden, and Tōru Fujisawa.
