Photo Basel

Photo Basel stands as Switzerland's sole international art fair exclusively focused on photography-based art. It provides an authentic setting where galleries from across the globe converge, establishing an active platform for dialogue among all participants in the photography community and beyond.

The fair's curatorial approach aims to integrate a diverse range of galleries, encompassing both emerging and established, Swiss and international, with programs featuring bold contemporary works and strong historic collections. It connects visitors and collectors with galleries that excel in presenting the essence of significant photographic practices, from historical to contemporary, and in identifying new talents, whether they are emerging, previously overlooked, underrated, or already established. The 2025 edition, marking its 10th anniversary, hosted 39 galleries from 15 countries, exhibiting over 450 photographic positions by more than 150 artists. In 2024, Photo Basel introduced the Novum sector, dedicated to showcasing never-before-seen or recently discovered photographic works.

Photo Basel targets collectors, visitors, and buyers, offering them a unique opportunity to engage with the world of photography. Concurrent programs in 2025 included free guided tours, curated parcours, and panel discussions, enhancing the visitor experience.
